YOUTHFUL vocalists and instrumentalists showed their talents at last Wednesday's Young Musician competition in Narberth.

Organised by Barbara Rumbold, on behalf of Narberth and Whitland Rotary Club, the event saw ten students from Ysgol Dyffryn Taf and Ysgol y Preseli performing to an audience of parents, friends and Rotarians at Bethesda Church, Narberth.

The compere was Rotarian Robert Elward, who introduced judges Rose Bowen, Norma Ridout and Clive Raymond, who summarised the performers' talents with encouragement and advice.

The vocal category winner was Maisie Thompson from Preseli, who sang Burn by Miranda and Don't Rain On My Parade by Styne. Cellist Evie Smith of Dyffryn Taf was the instrumental category winner, performing Tarantella by Squire and Orientale by Cui.

During the interval, refreshments were kindly provided by June John, whose late husband Noel John was a founder member of the club.

Certificates were presented to each performer by Rotary president Tony Ensom who also thanked the minister, Rev Chris Rees, and deacons of Bethesda for the use of their splendid room and kitchen facilities.

The competition winners now go on to perform at Rotary 1150 District level.
