TENBY’S town crier, Jim Cornwell, is trying to raise £2,000 towards the plan to improve the Jubilee Skate Park above South Beach.

The 73-year-old is tackling the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday March 17 but instead of just running round, he’ll be carrying two skate boards on his back.

“It’s possibly the most difficult thing I have ever attempted,” said Jim.

Although Jim has completed the London and Edinburgh Marathons and several half marathons around the country, including Llanelli earlier this month, he feels this could be the most difficult.

“As treasurer of the Skate Park Appeal Association, I feel something special needs to be done to raise the money so the children can continue to enjoy the skate park,” he said.

“It’s great seeing local children and visitors enjoying what must be the most picturesque skate park in the whole of the UK with stunning views looking over south beach towards Caldey Island – amazing.”

Jim would like to thank all the local people who have already supported his fundraising efforts.

If you would like to add to his total – he has a Just Giving Page.

The Association will be holding a variety of events during the coming year and hopefully everyone will have the opportunity of supporting this worthwhile project.
