RECRUITMENT activities to reduce Pembrokeshire’s unemployment level are taking place against a backdrop of the lowest unemployment level in more than 40 years, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has said.

Official figures state UK unemployment has fallen to 3.9 per cent, its lowest level in 44 years.

Pembroke Dock-based DWP Employer Advisor Fred Hatton said: “The Pembrokeshire Hospitality and Tourism recruitment process continues apace, especially with the large employers such as Bluestone Resort, Oakwood, Folly Farm and the two Bourne Leisure sites in Tenby and Lydstep.

“Furthermore, the Parkdean site in Pendine is actively recruiting from both Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.

“The Department for Work and Pensions, through Jobcentreplus, continues to support these recruiting activities by advertising their vacancies to jobseekers and offering Jobcentre facilities for their activities to discuss and interview potential applicants.”

He added: “We are continuing to work with Hywel Dda NHS Trust to attract jobseekers to consider the many and varied roles available within the Trust at its sites in Pembrokeshire as well as Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.

“A Health and Social Care Recruitment and Information event is planned to take place at The Bridge Innovation Centre Pembroke Dock on Thursday, April 4, from 3pm-6pm, and everybody is welcome to attend.

“A second event, to be held in Haverfordwest, is in the planning stage for a tentative date in June.”
