THE main A40 road in to south Pembrokeshire has now re-opened after an earlier crash this morning, March 29.

The A40 road was closed both ways, with slow traffic due to the accident from the A477 (St Clears roundabout) to the B4328 (Llanboidy roundabout).

Posting on Twitter, Dyfed-Powys Police wrote: “Police are at scene of an RTC on the A40 westbound between St Clears and Whitland.

“Diversions are in place and delays are likely. Please consider an alternative route whilst we make the area safe.”

Firefighters from Narberth and Whitland were in attendance at the crash on the U6218 towards the A40 between Whitland and St Clears.

The Welsh Ambulance service was also in attendance.

There were earlier delays in the area while emergency services deal with the incident.

An earlier Traffic Wales report stated: "The road has been closed to assist. Recovery will need completing and carriageway clean up will need to take place before the road can be reopened."

Congestion  spread to surrounding routes, including roads through Trevaughan and Tavernspite.

The A477 from Llanddowror was also slow in patches as traffic looked to divert.
