FUNDING to help support a young person from Pembrokeshire entering higher education this September has been launched by PLANED.
The Bursary was launched at Pembrokeshire College with partners and the PLANED sponsored Scarlets rugby player, Josh Macleod
"For this first year of the Bursary, we have decided that the theme and area of focus will be the Tourism & Hospitality Sector," said Iwan Thomas CEO of PLANED.
"With tourism and hospitality currently employing approximately over 17% of the workforce within the county, we wish to illustrate and help to promote that employment within the sector is not simply seasonal, and low-paid.
"We wish to work with employers to help promote that the sector has many opportunities at all levels, which are also year-around and full-time, with opportunities for career development."
The PLANED Pembrokeshire Bursary will focus on a different sector of the economy in the county each year, securing funding from businesses within this sector for this purpose.
The £1,500 bursary will be awarded in three termly payments of £500 during the successful student's first year.
The PLANED Pembrokeshire Bursary is supported by Bluestone and the Retreats Group. For more details and how to apply see http://www.planed.org.uk.
