ST DAVIDS RNLI all-weather lifeboat, Norah Wortley, launched at 5.12pm yesterday (Wednesday) to assist a 37-foot yacht with power failure and a fault with its rigging.

Angle’s Tamar class lifeboat launched at 5:27pm to assist St Davids in the tow.

The vessel, with one person on board was four miles south of Ramsey Island when the lifeboat was alerted.

The yacht’s skipper had decided to attempt to sail to Milford Haven and was off the western side of Skomer Island when the lifeboat reached the vessel.

A volunteer crew member from St Davids RNLI was put aboard and a towline passed. St Davids lifeboat towed the vessel to St Ann’s Head where the tow was passed to the Angle RNLI lifeboat which then took the yacht to Neyland Marina.

St Davids lifeboat returned to station at 7.05pm and Angle RNLI volunteers returned to station an hour later at 8:24pm.
