AN URGENT appeal to trace a much-loved goose, taken from St Davids city centre, has been launched.

Geraldine the goose is unlikely to lay any eggs, particularly those of a golden form, as she’s a stone sculpture which has brightened up her particular part of Nun Street since her owners the Plant family moved there last year.

Owner Caroline Plant said: “Very sad to say our goose went missing tonight [April 18] from our little house in St Davids, the smallest city in the world.

“The goose has been in the family 20 years.”

Geraldine has been a frequent globe-trotter, but has had her own share of heart-ache.

Caroline said: “She was obviously ‘married,’ but her husband had an unfortunate end, involving his neck. The goose has travelled the world, and been to Oz and back, and lived a varied life until tonight, when someone decided to take goose for a walk from outside our little cottage.

“We place her out there to cheer up the front of the cottage, which we have only lived in since September and have been renovating.

“Unfortunately this goose does not lay golden eggs, neither does it lay any eggs as it is made of stone and very heavy.”

Caroline is hoping people will have a ‘gander’ for any possible goose hiding places, and desperately wants to be reunited with her.

“We are thinking of sending out a national appeal for said goose. We had never got ‘round to getting it ‘microchipped,’ which we now obviously regret.

“We are all very upset as she was a very loved member of the family and we would just ask that goose be returned.

“We did obviously phone the local pubs in St Davids, and, after the laughter from the landlords had subsided, we asked them to see if some unsuspecting people were cuddling a stone goose whilst drinking their beer.

“Sadly no luck, so, to whoever has the goose please return it as we will look high and low.”
