VOLUNTEERS are being sought for an historic building in one of the best locations in Wales.

Tenby Museum and Art Gallery on the town’s Castle Hill is holding an open day on May 2 to attract new helpers to the facility.

“We’ve already got a great friendly volunteering team here, and we would love to recruit more people to join them,” said the museum’s events and community co-ordinator, Chloe Ashton-Milton.

“People may be looking to gain experience for their CVs or maybe would like to share their interest in the town’s history, or just help visitors enjoy their experience in the museum.

“We’re looking for volunteers who would like to do research and answer questions from the public; or maybe help our librarian in looking after our reference library and cataloguing books.

“Receptionist and front desk duties are ideal for those who like to be front-facing, while other possibilities are gift shop assistant, tour guide, archivist, book-keeper and handyman.”

Volunteers can offer as much or as little of their time as possible, and work experience opportunities are also available.

Added Chloe: “We have lots of exciting opportunities that have arisen for 2019.

“Being a volunteer at Tenby Museum is extremely rewarding, with perks including free entry to the museum, art openings, events put on by the museum and group trips to exciting research locations.

“It’s a great hobby for people who are passionate about the beauty of our walled town.”

The open day on May 2 takes place between 10.30am and noon, when museum staff, current volunteers and trustees will be available for a chat over tea, coffee and biscuits. PAVS will also be in attendance.
