A CAMPAIGN offering free or low cost, sailing and windsurfing taster sessions is set to return next month to two locations in Ceredigion.

The Push the Boat Out (PTBO) campaign is run by the RYA, the national body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating.

The West Wales coast will be busy with Tresaith Mariners SC and New Quay YC, as well as Fishguard Bay YC, Neyland YC, Pembrokeshire Performance Sailing Academy, Saundersfoot SC, and Tenby SC in Pembrokeshire.

PTBO open days are aimed at complete novices, as well as more experienced sailors, everyone is welcome. All kit and safety equipment will be provided.

New Quay is providing an opportunity to sail in a yacht, dinghy or powerboat with an experienced sailor for free on May 19,from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

Tresaith Mariners will have a variety of boats available to try including Fevas, Toppers, Lasers and Dart 16 catamarans on May 1, 8, and 15, 6pm to 8pm. There will also be chances to get a ride on one of the members’ F18 fast catamarans.

RYA Cymru acting chief executive Mike Butterfield said: "It is great to see so many club in Wales opening their doors to give people the opportunity to try sailing through the month of May.

"There will be a wide variety of opportunities from the traditional dinghy sailing, to larger boats, powerboating and other watersports.

"RYA Cymru Wales are committed to trying to expand the opportunities to take part in sailing through schemes such as Push the Boat Out and our charity All Afloat."
