SCARLETS rugby fans were able to meet some of their heroes in a signing session at Cardigan Castle yesterday (Wednesday, April 24).

Players Jake Ball and Josh Macleod were at the event which launched a new app aiming to help clubs and businesses in the Scarlets region communicate, generate business and earn discounts and commission.

Part of the Scarlets Three Counties, Three Years strategy, the free app - known as MiClub – has been launched as the first phase of the strategy in Ceredigion comes to an end.

The past 12 months have seen a range of initiatives including free equipment and training programmes, joining together local clubs, schools and young rugby talent and businesses across Ceredigion.

Nathan Brew, Scarlets’ head of commercial, said: “An integral part of our Three Counties, Three Years strategy is to encourage rugby lovers and players to engage with their local communities in multiple ways.

“The aim of MiClub is to support this engagement by creating one platform where people across Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire can connect and promote events, share resources and generate sponsorship with further exposure.

“The app not only allows clubs and its members to communicate quickly and directly with one another, but also encourages commercial development with local businesses.”

MiClub will be piloted with local Ceredigion clubs over the summer and then launched in Pembrokeshire as part of the second-year campaign in the county.
