A man who hurled items from a first-floor Fishguard flat has been handed a suspended sentence for breaching a court order.

Peter Bromley, of West Street, Fishguard, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Monday, April 29.

The court heard that Bromley, 44, had failed to attend two probation appointments after the order was made by Haverfordwest magistrates on July 24.

Magistrates were told that a street had to be cordoned off when Bromley began throwing furniture out of his window onto the pavement below.

Julie Norman of the probation service said Bromley was originally sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work and a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

She added that Bromley, who had completed 81 hours of unpaid work, had not been in contact since January 21.

Mike Kelleher, defending, said Bromley, who suffered from alcoholism and mental health issues, had spent 16 weeks in hospital since the order was imposed.

He added that he was sometimes unable to retrieve his post promptly if it was delivered to the address below.

Magistrates revoked the existing order and sentenced Bromley to four weeks in prison, suspended for six months.

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 costs.
