RAINY weather could not stop the community spirit at the fifth annual Pembroke Dock Beer and Gin Festival.

The event, organised by the Pembroke Dock Town Team, raised hundreds of pounds for future events and projects by the team.

Councillor Dilys Burrell, the town team treasurer said: “It was really good.

“We were really pleased with the turnout and people seemed to enjoy themselves.

“The band on the Friday was amazing and they got everybody up and dancing. There was a great community feeling.”

The event, which was held on Friday and Saturday, raised a total of £600.

Cllr Burrell said she was pleased with how the event went, despite a drop in the amount raised from last year.

The fall was put down to a mixture of poor weather and the event being held at the end of Easter.

“We learn a little bit each time we do it,” Cllr Burrell said.

“It’s not just about raising money, but doing something nice and getting people out, chatting and building that community.

“Thank you to everyone who came, I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and see you next year.”

Mark Carter, chair of the town team added: “The town team would like to thank all our sponsors, volunteers and supporters for their help – without the amazing team of more than 30 contributors we wouldn’t be able to make events like this happen”.
