POLICE have released CCTV footage of a brazen thief smashing his way into a car before stealing a handbag.

Officers are trying to identify the thief who broke into a Ford Fiesta parked in Belfield Road, Accrington.

He can be seen looking inside a vehicle parked further up the street, before returning to the Fiesta, smashing the front driver's side window and taking the handbag.

As yet no arrests have been made in connection with the incident which happened at 4.30pm on April 18.

PC Johanna Maden, from Hyndburn Police, said: "We want to speak to the man in the CCTV regarding theft from a vehicle on Belfield Road in Accrington.

 

 

"It happened at around 4:30pms on April 18, 2019.

"A handbag and items within it were stolen.

"We believe the person in the CCTV could have information which will help our enquiries."
