A man had to be cut from a car after a crash on the A7.

Emergency services were called just after 5.30pm, between Albert Street, Longtown and Sandysyke.

Two crews, Longtown and Carlisle West, from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, used hydraulic cutting gear to free the man.

A spokesman from the Fire Service said: " We were called to a two-car collision between a Landrover and a Nissan.

"A man was trapped in his vehicle, we cut him free using hydraulic cutting gear, he was then transferred to hospital by Ambulance with what we believe to be non-life threatening injuries."

Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour.

The road has now re-opened.
