Cardigan Carnival has been re-scheduled.

The town’s flagship event was cancelled earlier this month when predicted high winds and heavy rain put paid to the festivities, but organisers have now rearranged the carnival for Sunday, September 8.

The Mantle Beer Barrel Relay Race, which also had to be cancelled due to the weather, will be back in its normal Friday night slot, taking place on September 6.

The choice of a new date has been specifically chosen so as not to clash with the Orchard Fest in St Dogmaels and the Skater's Jam at the Skateboard park in Cardigan, both of which are taking place on the Saturday before.

The carnival parade will leave Station Road at 1.30pm on Sunday, September 8, with walkers joining from Brioude Gardens just outside the Castle shortly afterwards. The parade will then continue on through the town reaching the King George V Playing Field just before 2pm.

The theme for this year's carnival is Fantastic Creatures and Mythical Beasts.

Judging of various fancy dress competitions and floats will take place on the playing fields where stalls, games and other entertainment will continue into the afternoon.

The carnival committee is pleased to be able to re-schedule the event and is grateful to Cardigan RFC, all stallholders and the Carnival Royalty for enabling this opportunity to mark the end of the summer with one last 'hwre'!
