Offers of help have started to emerge for residents caught up in a huge fire in Bolton.

A huge response is currently dealing with the fire at The Cube student accommodation block in Bradshawgate.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the scene in Bolton town centre at 8.50pm.

"We currently have six fire engines in attendance," she said.

Within minutes of the fire breaking, people took to social media to offer help to those affected.

One Facebook user, Sara Brooke said: “The last thing people will be checking is social media after being evacuated but if you have nowhere to stay due to the fire please get in touch. I have a couple couches and a spare bed. Hope everyone is safe.”

Well wishers also offered support on Twitter.

It is understood many affected reaidents have been sheltering in The Balmoral.
