PEMBROKESHIRE police working to reinforce the 'stay home, save lives' message have turned round a driver out 'for a spin' from Neath.

Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit stopped the man's BMW car at Kilgetty yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Posting on Twitter, they said that the driver originally said he was heading home to Fishguard.

They added: "It was soon ascertained he'd actually come for a spin from Neath, having picked his two passengers up from Ammanford en-route.

"All three issued with FPN's (fixed penalty notices), vehicle turned around."

The unit also carried out checks in Haverfordwest yesterday evening where a large proportion of those stopped were travelling for work-related purposes.

The unit added thanks to those motorists for their understanding.

Tenby Neighbourhood Police Team were captured on camera by a member of the public speaking to a driver in Saundersfoot harbour car park yesterday.

The team said on Twitter: "A member of the community spotted Saundersfoot and Tenby officers out in force today issuing eight fines to people in breach of the Government's travel restrictions.

"Please stay at home wherever possible and work with your local officers to keep our communities as safe as we can."
