A LOCAL charity is set to benefit from a £500 grant thanks to the generosity of a Cardigan company.

Local firm Ultra Clean has disinfected and cleaned Cardigan’s high street free of charge during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ultra Clean boss Marc Thomas insists he was happy to do the work for free as a way of saying thank you to the local community for its support of his business over the years.

But some town councillors felt that it was still only right and proper that the Cardigan firm should be paid.

At July’s meeting of the town council, mayor Cllr Clive Davies said he had met with Mr Thomas, who had again insisted the did not want any payment but would be happy to see the town council make a donation to Cardigan Cancer Care.

Cllr John Adams-Lewis suggested a sum of £500 be donated to the charity and the resolution received unanimous support.
