Dear Editor - As the festive season approaches - full of food, parties, fun and laughter - Animal Aid is asking people to spare a thought for the millions of turkeys and other animals bred for the plate.
The vast majority of turkeys will have lived short lives full of suffering, inside damp, windowless sheds, where thousands are packed together in their own filth.
Many will die, rotting where they fall. Disease, broken bones and heart attacks are commonplace.
So, whether you're purchasing food for the Christmas meal or buying gifts for family and friends, please think cruelty-free.
Animal Aid's free guide to a Compassionate Christmas is available on 01732 364546 or visit www.animalaid.org.uk.
