A NEW group aiming to tidy-up Saron hall and its grounds has been set up.

Friends of Saron Hall was set up recently to bring together those who wanted to help with clearing the grounds adjacent to Saron hall and re-planting work.

Volunteer Siwla Virago said: "We had our first 2021 tidy up session on March 7, concentrating on the front area, sweeping up the leaves from last autumn, and raking out one of the borders. The hall's chairman and secretary spent an hour clearing too.

"We are now hoping to recruit younger members of the community to help with the hard labour.

"The daffodils are blooming, and it is wonderful to know they will bloom for us year after year. The hall yard is looking much more open, and brighter too.

"However, we have a lot of work ahead of us, and are restricted by Covid, weather and the majority of our volunteers being pensioners.

"It would be such a boost if we could recruit younger people, even on a short term basis, would be of some help. We don’t expect hours and hours of work at any one time, fifteen minutes, half an hour or more, what ever people can spare. Every little helps.

"We now have old car tyres that we are planning to paint and plant up, which will add so much more colour to our efforts."

If anyone is interested in getting involved they can phone Siwla on 07527312462, or the hall secretary Lynne on 0780 384 9963.
