Alzheimer's Society charity golf day at Milford Haven Golf Club

The event will cost £50 for a team of four to participate in a Texas scramble.

A Texas scramble, also known as captain's choice, is where the best shot of the team is always chosen.

In simple terms, all four team members take a tee shot, and the best is chosen. All four take their next shot from where the best tee shot ended up, and the best result from that shot is chosen, and so on.

The tournament is open to members of Milford Haven Golf Club and to visitors on the day.

Jess Bowring, Alzheimer’s Society Cymru’s community fundraiser for Pembrokeshire, said: “We are very grateful to Milford Haven Golf Club for its support for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru after what has been a difficult 12 months for the charity sector.

The funds raised at the charity golf day on April 30 will help Alzheimer’s Society Cymru in our fight against dementia and will help support our telephone services such as our dementia connect support line and our volunteer-led companion calls, our ongoing research projects and our work campaigning for government policy change, to ensure that nobody in Wales has to face dementia alone.

Fundraising events like these, which we’ve all missed during the coronavirus pandemic, are also a great way of raising awareness of dementia and highlighting that there are 45,000 people living with dementia in Wales.

It’s also thanks to the players of People’s Postcode Lottery that Alzheimer’s Society Cymru can continue transforming the lives of people affected by dementia."
