FANS have been snapping up one of the coolest shirts in football.
The new Wrexham AFC away shirt went on sale online and in the club shop at The Racecourse yesterday.
It is a Philadelphia-inspired away kit for the upcoming 2021-22 season in honour of co-owner Rob McElhenney.
It recognises co-chairman Rob McElhenney’s hometown of Philadelphia, with the green of the city’s most known team, the Philadelphia Eagles - as well as the collar and unique lace unlike anything in football.
The back of the shirt is just as personal, with the words ‘It’s Always Sunny…’ stitched in tribute to ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ - Rob’s award-winning comedy which has been enjoyed by so many since first airing in 2005 alongside his wife, Kaitlin Olson, Danny DeVito, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day.
Co-chairman Rob McElhenney said: “I’m delighted that this kit brings together two of my great loves: Wrexham AFC and Philadelphia.
“I hope we build great memories together, in this famous green.”
The shirt features newly signed partners TikTok, Aviation Gin and Expedia.
Liam Davies and his son Ethan were among the first fans to get the shirt, who also picked up a bottle of Ryan Reynold's Aviation Gin (not for you, Ethan!).
Daniel, Jayden and Ashley Gillam also proudly posed in their new shirts.
But some fans prefer the traditional red of the home kit.
Chris Natt shared a photo of his grandson Osian Lee Read in his Tiktok sponsored top.
He said: "This is my three-year-old grandson in his new Wrexham top, He loves it and he will be coming to all the football matches with me."
