It has been announced that a selection of Pint-size Plays will be returning to Pembrokeshire and performed at Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard and Queen's Hall in Narberth.

Since 2008, Pembrokshire-based Pint-sized plays has run an international writing competition for short 10-minute plays that have been performed in pubs during the Tenby Arts Festival and at a Script Slam at Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard where the audience has voted for the best script of the year.

Due to Covid, last year's competition winners couldn't be performed live and were put on YouTube instead.

The show will be on at the Queen's Hall, Narberth on Friday October 1 and at Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard on Saturday, October 2. Both shows start at 8pm and tickets for both events are £7.50.

The full lineup is as follows:

  • A Night to Remember by Andrew Turner, in which a couple decide to spice up their six life with a little role-play – a winning play from 2016
  • Two Woofs for Yes by Neil Walden, also from 2016, in which a woman visits a psychic to contact her dead pets – with ulterior motives
  • Bottle for a Special Occasion by Bill Kovacsik, from 2018, in which a woman has a strange reason for wanting to buy a bottle of wine
  • The Next Ivan Sharansky by Jim Geoghan, a winner from 2020 in which two Hollywood actors discuss what it takes to play dead
  • Pub Play by Doc Watson, the overall Script Winner from the very first Script Slam in 2008
  • The Emperor's New Clothes by Derek Webb, from 2015, in which two jack-the-lads carry a very special work of art
  • Never Give Up by James Hutchison from 2017, in which would-be playwright, Nigel Davenport, tries once again
  • Vent by Gavin Harrison, a winner from 2014, in which the ventriloquist's dummy takes over the show
  • Attack of the Killer Banana Spider by John Moorhouse from 2015, in which two flat-sharers discover something strange in their bananas
  • A Little Scotchie by John Spooner, from 2020, in which a homeless woman makes a surprising discovery
  • Mrs Thrale Lays on Tea! by Rob Taylor, from 2018, in which 18th-century Mrs Thrale has an intimate encounter with Dr Johnson

Derek Webb, originator and organiser of Pint-sized Plays says of the event: “It's wonderful to be able to get back on stage again after such a long interval. All of us at Pint-sized Plays are looking forward to bringing some laughter back into people's lives.”
