A FREE defibrillator training and awareness session is taking place in Llanddewi Velfrey next week.
The session, which is open to all, is being organised by Llanddewi Velfrey Community Council which has obtained funding to provide two new defibrillators at the village hall and the garage.
The recent case of footballer Christian Eriksen of Denmark, who collapsed with a cardiac arrest during during a televised Euro 2020 match, enhanced the importance of defibrillators in sporting venues and other public places.
Defibrillators nowadays are easy to use, and cannot harm someone because they will not operate if placed on a person with a heartbeat. Sometimes, however, people are worried they do not know what to do.
This is why the free training and awareness session is being held in Llanddewi Velfrey Village Hall on Thursday September 30 from 7pm to 8.30pm, including time for questions.
Anyone who would like to go along and find out how they could potentially save a life is asked to contact the council clerk on clerkllv@gmail.com to give an idea of numbers.
It is likely that a second session will be provided if this one proves popular.
