CORONAVIRUS cases have increased by nearly 2,800 in a week in the three counties of the Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Based on Monday, October 4, figures, cases increased by 2,742 in Hywel Dda from Monday, September 27, up to 31,767.

Pembrokeshire increased by 850, to 8,129; Carmarthenshire by 1,530, to 19,380; and Ceredigion by 362, to 4,258.

The period also saw an additional 12 deaths in the three counties, up to 523 throughout the pandemic.

The previous Monday saw 1,250 new cases in a week, with 17,850 in Carmarthenshire to that date, 7,279 in Pembrokeshire and 3,896 in Ceredigion; a rise of 332 cases in Pembrokeshire, 200 in Ceredigion and 718 in Carmarthenshire.

There were six new Covid-related deaths recorded in the three counties from the previous Monday.

The previous seven days had seen cases increase by 1,920 in Hywel Dda from Monday, September 13, up to 27,775.

Pembrokeshire increased by 429, to 6,947; Carmarthenshire by 1,212, to 17,132; and Ceredigion by 279, to 3,696.

The period also saw an additional five deaths in the three counties, up to 505 throughout the pandemic.

The previous week saw an additional 2,147 cases in Hywel Dda from September 6-13.

Pembrokeshire increased by 456, to 6,518; Carmarthenshire by 1,350, to 15,920; and Ceredigion by 341, to 3,417.

The period also saw an additional five deaths in the three counties, up to 500 throughout the pandemic.
