A CAMPSITE near St Davids has been crowned the best in Pembrokeshire by an eclectic cast of camping connoisseurs on a brand new Channel 4 show.

The brand new Channel 4 daytime show, The Perfect Pitch, features three couples of camping enthusiasts exploring beautiful Britain in their beloved caravans, campervans, and motorhomes.

Last week they embarked on a week-long tour of Pembrokeshire, starting at Pencarnan Farm Camping and Caravan Park near St Davids.

Camping holiday veterans David and Carolynn, Moony and Val, and touring newbies Callum and Tash then headed off grid to eco-friendly Kite View Farm at Dreenhill, near Haverfordwest.

On Wednesday, they pitched up at Folly Farm campsite that sits alongside its popular zoo and adventure park.

Thursday saw them in the green surroundings of Coedfryn Farm near Newport, while Friday featured their final stop at Fishguard Bay Resort.

Friday also saw the campers naming Pencarnan Farm Camping and Caravan Park as Pembrokeshire's Perfect Pitch.

Pencarnan is situated on a 96-acre working farm which skirts down to Porthsele beach.

Part of the farm has been run as a campsite since the 1950s. Owner Sian Richardson and her family are no strangers to TV, having been featured in ITV Wales' St Davids: Britain's Smallest City.

The programme aims to compile the ultimate guide to the very best campsites in Britain and help people plan their future staycations.

Stripped across the week in each episode, the programme's happy campers stay at one of the region's top campsites, enjoying both on and off-site activities and visiting nearby attractions, with one of the campsites winning 'The Perfect Pitch' regional title.

The Perfect Pitch airs weekday at 5.30 pm on Channel 4. The Pembrokeshire episodes should be available on All 4 imminently.
