IF you see a bright pink Fiat 500 zipping around the St Davids area, give it a wave; this little car gas helped raise around £6,000 for Pembrokeshire charity Belle's Story.

The Fiat raffle was drawn earlier this month at the Belle's Story VIP sponsor's dinner.

Belle's Story was set up by Wolfscastle's Belle Curran, her friends and family. Belle lost her battle with interstitial lung disease at only ten years old.

During her lifetime Belle and her supporters, raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charities that helped her, as well as increasing awareness of organ donation.

Belle's Story has continued that work, and also helps make a difference to young people touched by life-changing illness and disabilities, by providing direct support to them and their families through Belle's Dreams.

Belle's Story raised £6,000 at the first Belle's Ball in March 2019.

It was planned to hold a ball each spring but the second event in March 2020 had to be postponed due to Covid, first until the autumn of 2020, then until March 2021.

When it was still not going to be possible to hold a large event in March the Belle's Story Committee decided to hold a charity dinner in October, just for the sponsors of the Fiat 500, which was being raffled for Belle's Story, and for the charity's volunteers - Team Belle.

"We didn't know what October's restrictions would be, but we hoped a smaller gathering would be possible - and it was," said Belle's Story Trustee, Sophie Palmer.

"In the end, almost 100 sponsors and Team Belle volunteers attended and it was just as sparkly and as pink as the ball, but without the dancing and the auction. "

The draw for the pink Fiat 500, picked by charity mascot, Skylar the unicorn, was live streamed on Facebook. The winner was Pembrokeshire resident Andrea Neumann.

The guests enjoyed a VIP dinner of cocktails, canapes and three delicious courses, followed by moving speech from Stella, Belle's mum and chair of Belle's Story, as well as a performance from The Llewellyn Duo.

The car raffle, and a room raffle on the night, raised a combined total of just under £6,000.

All money raised will go towards granting dreams for children with life-limiting illnesses, as well as helping to raise awareness of the need to talk about organ donation, for all family members, including children.
