A NEW Pembrokeshire book continues to raise awareness of the importance of being plastic aware.

Taking part in the Haverfordwest Breakout Gallery exhibition led to the pictures of a fictitious plastic wheel-headed puffin and its life cycle, and the more representative real puffin picture.

These pictures feature on the cover of A Beach Tale in Drift Plastic.

The whole book tells a story using sea drift pictures; quirky, humorous collages which are created from the day’s beach finds.

The book also offers a ‘treasure hunt’ to spot the many items used in the temporary collages.

Said collages are made up of many different and peculiar items which are found on our shores including a frog cracker toy in the frog fish and a dog pastry cutter in the dog fish of the rafting puffin, or the dog toy used for the beak of the puffin.

Author Maggie Tooby said: "It is interesting to think how these items found their way to the beach."

Aimed at children, the book is equally enjoyed by adults.

The cover originals were part of the Breakout Gallery exhibition at the HaverHub.

The book is currently available through Manorbier Castle shop (closed during half-term), or Ecoast in the High St, Saundersfoot.
