The actresses in the the musical version of the much-loved story of the Calendar Girls have been talking about their roles ahead of its Welsh premiere in Pembrokeshire next month.

Written by pop superstar Gary Barlow, together with Tim Firth, the show is on stage at the Queens Hall, Narberth from November 4-6.

The musical is being performed by Vision Arts Theatre Company, under the direction of West End director Drew Baker.

It's based on the successful 2003 film, and in turn derived from a true story.

Here are the five cast members giving an insight into their characters.

Calendar Girls is the story of how members of a Yorkshire branch of the Women’s Institute come up with, what was, at the time, a unique way to raise funds in memory of the husband of one of their number, who died of leukaemia.

The ladies decide to create a calendar of members engaged in traditional WI pursuits such as cake-making; knitting, and painting, but the added twist is that they are photographed - all in the best possible taste - naked.

Vision Arts Wales is a new performing arts centre for Pembrokeshire, based in Haverfordwest, and as well as the Vision Arts Theatre Company, which is for adults, runs a youth theatre and a performing arts academy with four groups for children aged from five to 19.

The team at Vision also offers masterclasses with West End performers; performing arts courses and workshops and currently has three other shows in production - Matilda Jr, to be performed at the De Valence Pavilion, in Tenby, on February 24 and 25; Annie Jr and a professional pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, with a West End cast, including James ‘Arg’ Argent, best known for ITV’s The Only Way is Essex, throughout December.
