Haverfordwest County AFC has confirmed that Corey Shephard will return to the club for a second spell.

The midfielder, who joined the club from Cambrian and Clydach Vale in the summer of 2020 – ahead of the Bluebirds’ return to the JD Cymru Premier – left the Bluebirds last September due to work commitments.

He went on to join Merthyr Town in the Southern League Premier South.

"Corey Shephard was a key fixture in the midfield throughout his first spell at the Ogi Bridge Meadow," said a club statement.

"The club are delighted to welcome him back as they look to hit the ground running under new manager Nicky Hayen."

The 24-year-old, who has also represented Newport County and Ton Pentre since starting his career in 2015, becomes the club’s second signing of the January window, after defender Ryan George signed forms last week.

George, 20, joins from Southern League Premier Central side Redditch United until the end of the season.

He began his career with Sky Bet League Two outfit Newport County, making his senior debut as a substitute against Exeter City in the 2019-20 EFL Trophy.

He also had a spell with Walton Casuals, before departing the Exiles at the end of the campaign.

Earlier in the week the Western Telegraph reported that Sean Pemberton had stepped down as first team coach, following the appointment of new manager Nicky Hayen.

Pemberton was brought in to manage the first team on a temporary basis, alongside current player Jazz Richards, after Wayne Jones stood down as manager at the beginning of December.
