PLAID Cymru are celebrating early successes in two multi-member wards in the south of Ceredigion.
The newly-created Aberporth and Y Ferwig seat has gone to former Cardigan town mayor Clive Davies whose winning tally of 824 votes gave him a narrow advantage over party colleague Gethin Davies, of Aberporth, (793) who is also elected.
Independent Sue Lewis polled 451 votes for third place.
It was a similar story in Beulah and Llangoedmor where Plaid’s Amanda Edwards topped the poll with 804 votes and Chris James coming second with 759.
Both now go on to represent the ward at Penmorfa.
Independent Gethin James was third (287), with Welsh Labour’s Jan Culley fourth (257).
