Today is a big day for an adorable little un-named feral cat as he prepares to have his leg amputated after being hit by a car near Ystradgynlais.

For the past few months the little chap, who remains un-named, has been cared for by Gary Holman at his home in Ystalyfera.

“In the few months that we’ve been looking after him he’s turned into a sweet, friendly little boy who deserves all the support he can get,” said Gary.

“We’ve been treating the various wounds he’d sustained, but last week he appeared to be holding his back leg off the ground again.

"So we took him to the vets for a thorough examination and it turns out that he was probably hit by a car.

"We were given the choice of either putting him to sleep or raising the £1,200 needed to amputate his leg. This is why we set up the gofundme page. He deserves all the help he can get.”

After chatting to local residents, it’s possible that the cat was previously owned by somebody who was taken into a nursing home some 18 months ago. But because he isn’t microchipped, it’s impossible to determine whether or not this is the case.

“We’d love to find out who his owners are, so if anyone recognises him from the photos, please get in touch,” added Gary.

Meanwhile one of the local vets has agreed to amputate his leg despite the fact that the £1,200 needed to cover the costs has yet to be met.

“We know it’s a long shot but we’re trying to raise as close to the total amount needed as possible,” concluded Gary. “Every little helps.”
