A Pembrokeshire castle will be hosting a weekend showcasing old weaponry and living history.

Carew Castle's 'Weekend of Weaponry and Warfare' is set to return this bank holiday, with the Historia Normannis living history group taking visitors back to the 12th century.

This event, which is included with normal castle entry, will feature a medieval encampment, combat displays, and demonstrations of traditional skills.

Adding to the experience, a medieval fashion show will take place at noon each day, and a Shire Court session at 2pm will illustrate the strict enforcement of medieval laws.

There will be a small charge for some of the activities.

Daisy Hughes, manager of Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Historia Normannis back to Carew this coming bank holiday.

"The Weekend of Weaponry and Warfare promises an unforgettable history lesson on the living conditions of a 12th century army on the march.

"In what promises to be an exhilarating three days, visitors will also have the chance to handle replica artefacts and hone their own warrior skills with Have-a-Go Archery."

The event will take place from Saturday, August 24, to Monday, August 26, between 10am and 4pm each day.
