Fears that the weather would scupper Tenby’s Summer Spectacular proved unfounded yesterday, Sunday August 25.
Event organisers, Tenby Round Table, were keeping an anxious eye on the forecast throughout the week in fear they may be forced to pull the plug on only the second Spectacular of the summer.
A decision was taken early on Sunday to go ahead with the seven-hour event on Tenby Harbour, featuring music, entertainment, stalls, food and drink.
Fingers crossed
Keeping fingers crossed that the fireworks finale would go ahead, a positive risk assessment from its professional operators brought the announcement at 8.30pm that the 10pm display would be lighting up the skies.
Tenby Round Table took to Facebook to thank everyone who helped make the event a success, together with a link to PayPal for spectators who may have missed the chance to contribute to the donation buckets outside the harbour arena.
Tablers said: "Massive thanks to everyone who came along to our Summer Spectacular yesterday!
Great event
"Great event made possible by our fantastic volunteers, members and sponsors! A very long shift, with the members of Round Table being at the harbour from 10am until 2am."
Spectacular-goers described the event as 'awesome', with "best fireworks I've seen", while another commented: "Brilliant night - amazing bands, fireworks, volunteers and atmosphere. All for a £2 donation. People watching from above, give a donation if you can, all for charity."
Please donate
Tenby Round Table added: "Looks like we were right not to cancel based on the forecast! One If you were watching from around the town hopefully you saw one of our members to donate to support the event!
"We can only continue to deliver these events that raise funds for local charities and good causes with your continued support.
