BOTH of Tenby’s lifeboats were launched on Friday afternoon after reports of a missing child at the town’s South Beach.
The volunteer lifeboat crew launched at around 5.40pm on August 30 after the missing child had last been seen in the sea.
They were soon on the scene and carried out searches along the shoreline from Castle Beach up towards Giltar, with RNLI lifeguards searching from the shore.
Tenby’s Y-boat was launched from the all-weather lifeboat, the Haydn Miller, with two crew aboard to provide an extra team searching.
Within minutes of being launched, the crew of the Y-boat found the missing child swimming close in to the shore on South beach.
He was taken into the care of the lifeguards, before being returned to his relieved family.
The lifeboats were then stood down to return to station, arriving back at 6.05pm
