Thousands of pounds has been raised in memory of popular taxi driver Chris ‘Mucker’ Boyle who died tragically earlier this week.
Mr Boyle, 57, of Kilgetty, lost his life in a two-car crash near Tenby last Monday evening, and since then, tributes have poured in for the much-loved cabbie, who his family said ‘would do anything to help anyone’.
A fundraiser set up to help with the costs of his funeral later this month and the future of his five children had reached nearly £13,700 by this morning, Saturday, September 7.
Nearly 400 people have already contributed, with one donor alone pledging £750.
Fellow taxi driver Gabriel Nowak who set up the fundraiser, said: “I cannot think of anyone in Tenby, or even Pembrokeshire, who will not have known Mucker and will have undoubtedly heard the words ‘Mucker Boy’ at some point in their life, and I am sure most of you, like myself, will forever miss his banter, his friendship and his cheap rides home.
"He helped so many"
"For all of those he helped throughout the years, whether it be squeezing one more lift in, or giving you a little bit of discount to help get you home, now is the time we ask for the favour to be returned."
Mr Boyle's family said in a tribute: "Chris was a much-loved son, dad, brother, uncle and friend.
"Known as ‘Mucker’ to his friends, he was very involved in the community and would do anything to help anyone.”
Funeral arrangements
Mr Boyle’s funeral will take place on Friday, September 27 at St Mary’s Church, Tenby at 10am, followed by committal at Parc Gwyn Crematorium at 12.15pm.
Funeral directors W. and M.J. Rossiter and Sons of Tenby said in their funeral notice: “Chris was a much-loved son to Brian, dad to Daniel, Chloe, Leah, Jimmy and Tommy J, brother to Liz, David and Lisa, uncle and friend.”
They added: “The funeral cortege will be passing through Kilgetty at approx 11.45am, for anyone wishing to pay their respects to Chris.”
The family has chosen The Firefighters Charity to receive donations in memory, which can be made via the funeral directors.
