The man found dead on the cliffs at Trefasser on Saturday has been named as 47-year-old Richard Anthony Rothwell of Stourbridge, West Midlands.

Mr Rothwell was found after a massive emergency service search on Saturday.

Police became concerned for his well-being after his car was found abandoned at Garn Fawr car park near Trefasser.

Fishguard and St Davids coastguard, Dyfed-Powys Police, rescue helicopter 169 from RAF Chivenor and both Fishguard lifeboats scoured the area from around 10am.

They found Mr Rothwell on cliffs at Trefasser, near Pwll Deri, at around 4pm. A coastguard cliff rescue team recovered his body.

"This was a particularly sad and difficult recovery for all units on scene," said a spokesman at Milford Haven coastguard HQ.

Mr Rothwell was identified on Monday night and an inquest into his death opened yesterday (Tuesday) by HM Coroner for Pembrokeshire, Michael Howells.
