Three years of discussions between the county council and Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society over the future of Withybush showground have got nowhere, general manager, Malcolm Crossman, told the society's recent AGM.

"We have kept the door open and we will carry on running our business and organising the shows here until further progress is made," he said. Mr Crossman reported on a successful year and good prospects for the 2006 show and praised outgoing president Breuan Llewellyn, who handed over to the newly-elected president, Ken Evans.

President-elect is Hywel Davies and the meeting conferred honorary life vice-presidencies on Bruce McKay, Myrddin Llewellyn and Elizabeth Thomas.

The 2006 County Show ambassador is Sharalyn Jenkins, of Hayscastle, was invested with her sash by the new president.

The treasurer David Rees than gave his report, saying profits are down on 2004, despite an increase in income.

Reporting a successful year, with show income up by £70,492 (13.5%) and estates income increased by £19,730 (10.6%), Mr Rees said profits were down on 2004 because costs increased.
