A teenage passenger in a death car crash has been charged with manslaughter.

Police have confirmed that, after extensive enquiries and consultation with Crown Prosecution Service and leading counsel, Alice Lewis, aged 19, of Wiston, will appear before magistrates in Haverfordwest on July 4th on two charges - one of manslaughter - that she unlawfully killed David Griffiths - and one that she unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grevious bodily harm.

The crash, involving only one car, occurred in the early hours of November 14th, close to Newbridge Nurseries, near Clarbeston Road.

At the time there were six people in the vehicle, being driven by Philip Harvey, who has not been charged with any offence.

One of the passengers - David Griffiths, aged 18, of the Old School House, Little Milford - died of the injuries he suffered.

Another passenger Leila Connolly, licensee of the Cross Inn, Clarbeston, was seriously hurt and had to have a heart operation at Morriston Hospital. She was in intensive care for a time.

In April this year, Leila was injured in another car crash.

Other passengers in the November accident were Stephen Williams of Clarbeston and James Evans of Llawhaden.

Because there were so many young people involved, the crash has had a deep impact within the communities of Wiston and Clarbeston Road and also the county's Young Farmers Clubs' circle, of which David Griffiths was a popular member.

Memorials have recently been placed in his memory at Gelli Aur College, Llandeilo, where he was studying, and at The Keyston Young Farmers Club, of which he was a member. Services were conducted at both locations.
