Tenby coastguards had a hectic day yesterday (Sunday), responding to five call outs in six hours.

The first call came in at 9.21am when a yacht issued a mayday call after finding an abandoned dinghy floating off St Catherine’s Island. Tenby’s inshore lifeboat was requested to launch and the resort’s coastguards weretasked. The search was stood down after the vessel was claimed.

Half an hour later Tenby and Manorbier coastguards and the inshore lifeboat were called out again to a report of people stranded at Monkstone Point. They searched the area but found nothing untoward and the search was called off.

The last call of the morning was from the police requesting help to find a man missing in Amroth in the severe weather. He returned home safely and the search was called off.

In the afternoon Tenby and Saundersfoot coastguards, as well as RNLI lifeguards, attended a 92-year old man who had been taken ill on Saundersfoot car park. He was treated at the scene before being transferred to a land ambulance.

The last call of the day was to a 5-year-old boy on Saundersfoot beach who had badly cut his lip. He was taken to Tenby cottage hospital.
