AN AWARD-winning Herbrandston bed and breakfast has received yet more recognition – from none other than the comedian Jenny Eclair.

On a recent visit to Fields Lodge bed and breakfast, Jenny Eclair left a comment to say that the bed was comfier than her own and she would steal the mattress if she could, according to owner Jayne Hancock.

The business, which is based in Sandy Haven Bay, has recently been awarded Pembrokeshire Tourism’s finest breakfast and has also recently featured in an article in the New York Times.

Jayne added: “I am a popular stop for people walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and also those visiting Skomer and the fabulous puffins.”

The bed and breakfast is rated the number on place to stay in Milford Haven on Trip Advisor and is in the top 10 in Pembrokeshire.

Jayne went into business after taking voluntary redundancy from her job at Lloyds TSB.

“I wanted to work for myself and over the years friends had said that Fields Lodge lent itself to being a B&B, but while working full-time that was not an option,” said Jayne.

After conducting some research, Jayne decided the area needed a smart, boutique B&B.

She got in contact with local companies, such as Milford Haven Port Authority, South Hook LNG and Murco to see what they would be looking for and then took advice from Pembrokeshire Tourism and Visit Wales.

“I aim to do everything to the best of my ability,” said Jayne.

Jayne has built up a four star boutique B&B and uses local produce wherever possible, including in her award-winning breakfasts.
