A Haverfordwest-based milk processing company has acquired residential milk round operations in Cardiff and Swansea from Welsh fresh food delivery service Milk & More.

Totally Welsh bottles fresh milk at a plant at the Withybush Industrial Estate for sale to small retail outlets and supermarket chains, garage forecourts and schools.

Its acquisition of the Milk & More depots in Cardiff and Swansea will allow the company a route into the doorstep delivery sector, said managing director Mark Hunter.

The move allows significant growth potential for Totally Welsh, he added.

“It will render the Totally Welsh brand from that of a largely West Wales presence to that of an all-Wales proposition.’’

Mr Hunter pledged a commitment to safeguard existing jobs and to increase employment opportunities. “As such this acquisition represents true organic growth.”

Full ownership and management of the Milk & More residential milk round operations in Cardiff and Swansea transferred to Totally Welsh on Monday April 29 while Milk & More will continue to operate and deliver to customers throughout England.

Milk & More is part of Müller UK & Ireland which is wholly owned by Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller.

It currently services homes across Wales and bordering counties with a range of 200 products, from fresh food to household goods.

Mr Hunter said a reason behind the acquisition decision was the growth in ‘doorstep’ shopping.

As an entirely independent business, Totally Welsh would be in a position to react swiftly to market trends and opportunities, he added.
