Gary Howells, of Shadog Farm, Llandysul, was named as the NFU Cymru Livestock Champion at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair.

And there were many more competitors from west Wales who made the trip to the increasingly popular two-day event at Llanelwedd.

Cattle Supreme Champion: Rizzo, Limousin X heifer weighing 600kg, exhibited by Wilkinson and Marwood. Sold for £10,800 to R G B Webste, Rhyl.

Baby Beef Supreme Champion: Treacle, Limousin X heifer weighing 336kg, exhibited by Mr and Mrs R W and L A Jones. Sold for £6,200 to Colin Harris, Little Lambert, Torrington.

Pig Supreme Champion Single: A Pietrain x Welsh pig, exhibited by Mr Myrddin James. Sold for £330 to David Partridge (Judge), Washing Stocks Farm, Catshill.

Pig Supreme Champion Pair: A pair of Pietrain x Welsh pigs, exhibited by Mr Myrddin James. Sold for £330 to David Partridge (Judge), Washing Stocks Farm, Catshill.

Carcass Supreme Champion Single: A Dutch Texel X, exhibited by Mr Mike Carter. Sold for £2500 to Le Monoe Restaurant, Cardiff.

Caracas Supreme Champion Pair: A Beltex, exhibited by B Blandford and Sons. Sold for £320/head to La Marina and el Puelto Restaurant, Penarth Marina, Cardiff.

Overall Meat Hamper Champion: Fresh Welsh Christmas Dinner Hamper, exhibited by Mr Adrian Walker.

Sheep Supreme Champion: A pair of Beltex lambs, exhibited by Mr Ioan Jones. Sold for £1,040/head to O and R Watkins and Gittoes, Hay on Wye.

Dressed Poultry: A turkey, exhibited by Mr Stephen Goulbourne. Sold for £340 to High Street Butchers, Fishguard.

Supreme Poultry Champion: A female Minorca, exhibited by Mr Rob Walker from Worcestershire.

Welsh Horse Champion: Butleigh Sea Pearl, exhibited by Robert G Jones

Supreme Horse Champion: Courtway Artic Fox, a Welsh Part-bred Colt, exhibited by Jocelyn Price.
