Plans are progressing for the multi breed NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales to go ahead in 2021.

The date for the early sale will be August 2 and the main sale will be on September 20.

Organisers are looking at various options. Feedback from breed societies, flockmasters and auctioneers indicates they are looking forward to returning to the format that has worked so well for more than 40 years.

The sales draw 5,000 or more sheep from all over the UK, as well as thousands of farmers, with a turnover approaching £2 million.

They attract international attention and are an important economic driver in mid Wales, traditionally held at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells. This year’s events were cancelled because of Covid-19 restrictions and worries over Government rules on mass gatherings.

The uncertainty of the Covid-19 situation may mean the sales will be strictly functional, so coming under the ‘business’ category that has allowed markets to operate this year.
