I HAVE recently had an operation for bowel cancer at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest and I would like to thank the medical and ancillary staff of ward 3 for their kindness and efficiency.
My consultant, Mr Matthias, was outstanding and he spent time with me and my daughter explaining my options which gave me a lot of confidence.
My wife was disabled for 10 years before I lost her; she stayed in several hospitals, sometimes for three or four weeks - none of which could be compared with Withybush.
It is the cleanest hospital I have ever been in. Jamie Oliver the chef would be proud of your kitchen staff !
I sincerely hope you do not close any of this hospital as it would have placed an enormous burden on our family if we had had to travel the extra distance to another hospital out of our county - I believe it is having small hospitals that enables the provision of such a personal and encouraging service.
I am 87 years old and have recovered well, the followup care was very good, with a very supportive and kind District Nurse and the pharmacy were very helpful too.
