ADVERTISING for new events at a unique church on the Castlemartin peninsula has been supported by a new notice board, thanks to a donation from Valero Pembroke Refinery.

As well as being open for regular monthly services, usually the second Wednesday in the month, St Mary’s Church in Warren hosts a packed programme of community evening events.

The 12th century church, with its distinctive spire erected on the orders of the Admiralty in 1857, regularly hosts events organised by the Warren Church Trust.

John Rogers from the Warren Church Trust said: “The church is home to many wonderful events – be they concerts, choir singing, talks, recitals and much more besides – with as many as up to 60 people attending.

“Our noticeboard now enables us to advertise what is happening at the church, and we are very grateful to Valero for their generous support. We also thank Richard Oakley for the time and effort he spent restoring the noticeboard.”

Valero Public Affairs Manager Stephen Thornton said: “Warren Church is a wonderful example of how a local community has really succeeded in revitalising a beautiful and historic village asset for the enjoyment of all, and Pembroke Refinery is delighted to be able to support the Trust with this donation.”
