HEADS were bowed in silence today (November 11) as the country remembered those who gave their life in the line of duty.
On the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, on the eleventh month, the guns fell silent as the First World War, the Great War came to an end.
A memorial service was held at Haverfordwest War Memorial as local civic dignitaries were joined by members of the Royal British Legion and members of the public to remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty in all conflict.
Leading the service was Ken Humphries, branch chairman of the Royal British Legion and the lady standard bearer was Trisha Hall. Also in attendance were Haverfordwest mayor Cllr Sue Murray, deputy mayor Cllr Alan Buckfield and Sheriff Cllr Chris Thomas.
World War Two RAF veteran George Gray was also at the war memorial to remember the fallen.
