A Milford Haven man who overturned his car, was found to have more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

John Paul Hughes, aged 49, of Hawthorn Path, Mount Estate, pleaded guilty to driving after consuming excess alcohol when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday.

The court heard Hughes was driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Marble Hall Road at around 4pm on November 21st, when he hit a parked car, making his vehicle overturn.

The car went on to strike several others, causing substantial damage.

When breathalysed, Hughes was found to have 85 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit is 35mg.

James Subbiani, defending, told the court his client had been for Sunday lunch with his girlfriend and drank a couple of pints.

After a row he decided to drive and was involved in a collision.

Hughes was banned from driving for 21 months, given a £115 fine, and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £15 victim surcharge.
