STEPPING out on a new Irish dancing venture together are Katie Harries and Kira Hardy.

The pair are just about to launch their new Harries-Hardy School of Irish Dance in Pembrokeshire, after being friends and dancing colleagues for many years.

Kira, aged 20, recently concluded her competitive career on a high when she won an eighth place medal in the CRN World Championships held in Ireland.

Katie, aged 22, has been running her own Feileachan School of Irish Dance in Narberth and Haverfordwest for the past two years, with her pupils following in her footsteps to win medals at competitions in both Wales and Ireland.

“Irish dancing has been a big part of our lives ever since we started out with the Hynes School of Irish Dancing in Saundersfoot,” said Katie. “We have had so much fun at classes, competitions and performances that it’s lovely to be able to share that with a new generation of dancers.”

Added Kira: “I was so thrilled to bring a world championships medal home to Pembrokeshire, and now Katie and I feel that the time is right for us to team up to start our new dancing school.”

Classes are being held at Cosheston Village Hall every Sunday between noon and 3pm, starting this Sunday (July 20), and will run throughout the summer holidays, with term-time classes continuing in Narberth and Haverfordwest.
