THERE was food for thought at Narberth Rugby Club recently when the RNLI Quiz and Cawl Evening raised £800 for RNLI funds.

Organised by the Narberth branch of the RNLI, the evening saw a record number of over 100 people attending to enjoy the questions posed by quizmaster Bill Carne and the cawl prepared by club steward Anne Lonsdale.

The winning team, Narberth Cricket Club, led by Richard Howell, donated their prize winnings to RNLI funds.

Narberth RNLI branch chair Julie Mathias thanked everyone who attended or supported the event and praised the service provided by the club’s assistant steward Keri Davies and staff.

Bill Carne was presented with a book token and his wife Marilyn, who acted as scorer for the evening, was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

Mrs Mathias also presented former branch chairman Graham Searle with a gift for his sterling work during his 10 years of service before retiring from the committee, and Mrs Audrey Searle with a bouquet of flowers.
